Europe’s third-largest producer of household appliances, Arçelik A.S., has turned to BASF Coatings Spa (www.basf-coatings.com) for developing liquid electrocoat paints for its dryers produced on the new production line at the Çerkezköy, Turkey, plant. The partnership was based on the Turkish firm’s positive experience with BASF SE, which is already supplying it with other products.
Up to 80% of the appliances manufactured in the plant are destined for export. With more than 17,000 employees, 11 production sites in four countries, and 13 subsidiaries outside Turkey, Arçelik combines nine of its own brands from the household appliance sector, including Grundig and Blomberg.
“We are looking forward to our cooperation with Arçelik. The basis for this success was the teamwork among all the units, including sales, the lab, and customer service,” says Gianfranco Corvi, head of sales for appliances and general industry in Southern Europe at BASF Coatings.
