The Adaptive Motion Trainer (AMT) from Precor (Woodinville, WA, U.S.) began a design-award-winning streak almost as soon as it was launched. It earned the Nova 7 Best Product of the Year recognition. At the fitness-industry trade show Fit2PRO in Belgium in February 2008, it was named the best product innovation. In March, it was selected as one of the world’s best-designed products in the Red Dot design competition hosted by Germany’s Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen.

The AMT is designed to be a new form of cardio equipment, letting users instantly choose and change stride motion and speed. It adapts to the user’s choice of stride length and motion on the fly. Stride length can be adjusted from 0–27 in. Observing a patent-pending Stride Dial on the display allows users to monitor and control stride and focus on exercising specific muscle groups.
