Expresso Fitness (Sunnyvale, CA, U.S.), developer of Web-enabled cardio fitness systems, designed its S2r recumbent stationary bike as the first bike of its type to fuse Web-based exer-gaming features with a customized workout. Like other bikes in the line, it lets riders race against their best personal time with a Ghost Ride feature, use a Pacer to gauge their progress, ride cooperatively with friends, or compete in real time against virtual competitors (or other users if in the same location). Users can also watch TV or listen to Internet music. After working out, riders can visit to check their results, track their progress, or see where they rank on global Leader Boards. Because they’re connected to the Web, they are easily updated with the latest Tours, Chases, and upgrades.
