Orbital forming offers advantages over some methods of fastening, but it might not be suited for lighter-duty applications. The Spiralform cartridge was added to the company’s standard product line to fill that gap. Spiralform displaces material using an eleven-sided spiral pattern. As the forming tool contacts the surface, material uniformly flows out from the center, providing superior strength and surfacing. A versatile process, Spiralform can be used on ferrous and nonferrous metals, die-cast materials, case-hardened fasteners, ceramics, glass, and other delicate materials and assemblies. It is available for new machines as well as for retrofit on the company’s machines. Additionally, Spiralform is designed to accommodate an integral load cell into its spindle package, providing the same Watchdawg Process Intelligence capabilities as the rest of the company’s product line.
