Nanoporous aerogel insulation materials are available for service temperatures from –460º to 1200ºF (–273º to 649ºC). This wide range enables the insulation to perform in low-, high-, and dual-temperature applications. Aerogels offer two to eight times the insulation value for the same thickness compared with traditional materials. An extremely thin profile increases internal volume within tight spaces, providing more usable area for the same footprint. Aerogels offer excellent resistance to flame spread and smoke emission. Lighter in weight than other insulation materials, the aerogels offer hydrophobicity and are environmentally friendly. Operations such as precision die-cutting, CNC cutting, close-tolerance slitting and sheeting, and application of pressure-sensitive adhesives can be performed with the materials.
