A safe and cost-effective solution for gas ignition offers one- to six-point direct-spark igniters for gas appliances. Using industry-standard connection systems and fixing points, the company’s family of ignition modules is suitable for both the spare-parts industry and new applications. Ignition modules providing one to six direct-spark outlets are available in 120 and 230 V ac and  24 and 12 V dc versions. Other voltage options are available on request. The company’s spark modules can be used with natural, manufactured, and LP gas mixtures. Multiple housing styles are available. Single-, two-, four-, and six-point housings provide a range of product options. Housings have been designed with multiple mounting points so that the units can be fixed in various orientations using either direct-clip, clip-and-screw-assist, or multiple-screw fixing. The igniters can be supplied with either industry-standard 2.8 mm (0.11 in.) × 0.8 mm (0.032 in.) or 4.8 mm (0.187 in.) × 0.8 mm (0.032 in.) spark outlet tab terminals. Input terminals are standard tab terminals, 6.3 mm (0.25 in.) × 0.8 mm (0.032 in.). The modules are designed for long life in harsh environments. They ensure quality through good design, testing, and manufacture to the highest international standards. Each burner has a gas cock fitted with a momentary switch that applies power to the igniter when pushed in or turned to the ignition position. Alternatively, a separate ignition button can be fitted to the appliance. When the ignition switch is operated, sparks are generated at all igniter outlets. Once ignition has occurred, the user releases the switch/ button or turns the gas cock to the cook position. At that point, power is removed from the igniter and sparking stops. The same process is repeated when any of the remaining burners are switched on. The units are constructed to comply with the current American Gas Association ANSI Z21.20 standard, Canadian standard CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 199-M89, and European standards EN 60730-2-1:1997 (specification for automatic controls for household and similar use) and EN 50165:1995 Clause 8.101 (electrical equipment of nonelectric appliances for households and similar purposes).
