Size-8 hybrid linear actuators are available with encoder feedback. Simplicity and low cost are said to make them ideal for both high- and low-volume motion control applications. The module uses a lensed LED light source and monolithic photodetector array with signal shaping electronics to produce the two-channel bounceless TTL outputs. The internal monolithic electronic module converts the real-time position, speed, and direction into TTL compatible outputs. The encoder is offered in resolutions ranging from 120 to 330 cycles per revolution (CPR) or 480 to 1200 pulses per revolution (PPR). The encoder operating temperatures are –10° to 85°C. The compact optical incremental encoder design is available with two channel quadrature TTL squarewave outputs. The linear actuators occupy a minimal 0.8 in. (21 mm) square space. The actuators are available in resolutions from 0.00006 in. (.0015 mm) per step to 0.00157 in. (0.04 mm) per step and are said to deliver thrusts of up to 10 lb (4.5 kg) without compromising long life and cost. The models can also be microstepped for even finer resolution.
