Appliances and other commercial service type equipment have many applications for traditional commodity switches. Some of the requirements that electromechanical switches need to meet involve the cycle life, profile height or environmental sealing. In addition, switches also need to meet electrical specifications for current, voltage and electrical cycling. When off-the-shelf switches cannot meet application needs, the packaging and electrical ratings of switches can usually be manipulated to accommodate certain needs.
