According to literature from Leland Powell Fasteners, Inc., Grip-Liteā„¢ screws are designed specifically for thin sheet metal applications and are said to provide tight assembly with increased strip-out torque, improving joint strength. A radius point adds safety by eliminating the sharp point that can cause injury and cut wire insulation and also prevents the screw from drilling its own hole if the assembly is misaligned. The screws are said to lower assembly costs by eliminating the need for expensive nuts, clips, inserts, or tapping operations.
