New spiral retaining rings are axially installed into machined grooves in housings/ bores (internal) or on shafts (external) to retain assemblies. They provide 360-degree contact with the groove and are designed to offer more clearance than a tapered section ring. They are said to be ideal for applications with lower thrust loadings.
