The DA20 dual-arm robot provides high-speed motion with two six-axis arms that provide enhanced, humanlike flexibility of movement. This makes the robot suited to challenge human performance on a wide variety of assembly, part transfer, machine tending, and other handling tasks that formerly could only be done by people. The robot features 13 axes of motion (6 axes per arm, plus single axis for base rotation).
The robot has a 20 kg (44.1 pound) payload per arm, a 756 mm (29.8 inch) reach per arm (from centerline of base rotation to tool mounting surface), and a repeatability of +/-0.1 mm (0.004 inch). It handles heavy payloads, operating in a variety of modes. Both robot arms can work together on one task or the two manipulators can work independently to perform separate tasks. The robot can transfer a part from one of its arms to the other with no need to set the part down temporarily. It also provides “jigless” operation with one robot arm holding a part while the other performs operations on the part.
The robot is controlled by the NX100 robot controller, designed to offer a robust PC architecture, Windows® CE programming pendant and easy-to-use INFORM III programming language.
The controller offers a high level of multiple axes control capability to maximize flexibility while minimizing cost of integration and risk of robot collisions. The controller also offers up to 100 user passwords available in several levels, including: user, editor, maintenance, and supervisor. The password restricts and logs changes made to production programs.
The programming pendant features a color touch-screen display that can be configured as a custom Human Machine Interface (HMI) with buttons and status indicators.
Dual-channel safety features include enhanced E-stop functionality, integrated speed monitoring, manual brake release switches, and compliance with both ANSI/RIA R1506-1999 and Canadian safety standards.
The controller provides connectivity through standard Ethernet and other network options, including DeviceNet, ControlNet, Profibus-DP, and EtherNet/IP. Motoman Inc., www.motoman.com
