A 3-W charger reference design from the company consumes less than 30 mW of no-load power. Typical applications for the design include cell phones, cordless phones, cordless phones, PDAs, MP3 players, and other battery-powered portable equipment. The DI-84 is said to consume 97 percent less no-load energy than traditional linear transformer-based power supplies and surpass the recently announced mandatory regulation from the California Energy Commission, which permits up to 500 mW of no-load energy consumption.
