The WORLD-BEAM(r) QS18FF background suppression sensors are said to be "ready to use" right out of the box. Preprogrammed models are available for 50- or 100-mm (2- or 4- in) fixed field sensing ranges. The sensors will reportedly only detect objects within their preset sensing range and will ignore all others outside the range, regardless of the object's surface reflectivity.
