Jenn-Air intends its Attrezzi appliances to take design where no other kitchen electrics have gone before. As Attrezzi's Kristi Lafrenz told APPLIANCE magazine at the International Home & Housewares Show, "It is performance combined with art."

The art part of the equation comes into play in the form of tempered glass bowls and pear-shaped blender jars with aesthetics inspired by Italian blown glass. The unique shapes, however, are also said to add to the performance of the appliances—they are said to blend foods and crush ice more effectively.

Jenn-Air increased the usability of the appliances by optimizing the electronic controls' placement, actuation, and interaction with the motor.

The mixer's electronic control touch wheel is placed on top, where it is said to be easier to see and use. It is made to slide smoothly to each of the 10 speed selections, with 10 blue LED lights providing additional visual indication of speed control.

The mixer also has a unique pause button allowing users to stop the 400W motor so ingredients can be added to the bowl. Another touch of the pause button re-starts the motor. The motor is designed to ramp up smoothly, avoiding quick starts that can cause messes.

Another button at the back of the mixer stand is a mixer head quick-release, which automatically shuts off the mixer. The mixer has a planetary mixing action. The tilt-back head makes bowl removal easier.

Mixer stand finishes include:

  • pearlescent white
  • pearlescent black
  • antique copper
  • satin platinum
  • stainless steel

Bowl options include:

  • Merlot red
  • cobalt blue
  • aqua beach
  • verde
  • dolce
  • amber tortoise
  • a clear, etched pattern

The new Attrezzi mixer is scheduled for retail availability in the spring of 2004, with a suggested retail price of U.S. $349. Additional glass bowls are $59, and 5-quart stainless steel mixing bowls will also be available. The Attrezzi blender also available in spring 2004, has a price of $199 with extra glass pitchers offered for $59.
