The RLE fiber optic laser encoder is an interferometer-based system, which, according to the company, is designed to produce high-resolution, linear-position feedback signals. The system is reportedly able to provide dual- or single-axis capability from a single laser source. Outputs are either in digital RS422 format quadrature with resolutions from 10 to 633 nm, or 1-Vpp Sin/Cos signals. According to the company, the system can be used for X-Y stages, wafer inspection machines, machine tools, CMMs, precision gauges, glass grinding machines, and other precision motion systems.
