Sound Trap(R) comprises two steel skins, constrained over a layer of viscoelastic material, which reportedly absorbs vibrational energy and reduces noise in end products. This material is currently used on major appliances such as washers and dryers, as well as breadmakers and central/window air-conditioners. Specifically, Sound Trap material acts as a noise- and vibration-reducing component when used as the enclosure, inner shell, compressor mounting plate, or other housing structure. The material can reportedly be formed, even welded, with no loss of performance integrity and no delamination. MSC Engineered Materials and Solutions Group
