Scandinavian appliance producer Asko Cylinda AB introduced its new generation of professional washers and dryers at TexCare Asia 2002, which took place May 5-11 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The new laundry appliances, as well as new dishwashers introduced simultaneously, are targeted at professional users, such as those in laundries, hospitals, restaurants, schools, hotels, nursing homes, day-care centers, hairdressers, and dentists offices.

The appliances are designed to combine the basic strength of steel construction with Asko's innovations in sensor technology. The appliances are produced in the Asko Cylinda factory in Vara, Sweden. Asko is a part of the Antonio Merloni Group, based in Italy.

Model WMC55 Professional Washing Machine

Asko believes simplicity is one of the most important requirements for many users in today’s world of mixed cultures. It developed a unique user interface to meet this need. EasyControl™ speaks 11 languages. With only eight buttons for eight pre-set wash programs, all the user needs to do is to push one button and then start.

Using sensors to control the machine, the washer is designed to make sure the wash gets the correct amount of water, the right temperature, and the right spin speed (to a maximum 1,200 rpm).

In professional applications, each tenth of a kilowatt hour and liter of water used in a cycle have a major impact on annual consumption.

Asko combined a 50-liter drum with balanced wash action and intelligent sensors that control the use of water and energy. The unique consumption sensor gauges the amount of laundry in the load, regulating the wash cycle to achieve optimum results with minimum consumption of both water and energy.

When washing a 2 kg load instead of a 5 kg load, the consumption sensor saves as much as 30 percent water and 30 percent energy.

This ASKO Washer is available in four different programming versions that can easily be accessed by cutting a loop in the control card:

  • European version
  • U.S. version
  • MOP version
  • Medical version

The four versions are all developed and adopted according to the needs in each specific environment.

    Model TDC33/44 Tumble Dryers

Asko developed a unique tumble action for its new professional tumble dryers. The Butterfly Drying™ System tumbles wash in a non-stop figure eight rather than repeatedly reversing the motor. This is designed to increase the life span of the dryer and prevent wrinkling.

The dryer includes a self-cleanable fan, said to be easy to keep clean without the need for a service technician.

A unique sensor solution, SensiDry™, gauges humidity inside the unit and stops drying as soon as the humidity has reached the set level. This sensing function is said to be highly precise because it measures air humidity, not the moisture level of individual garments.

The drum size allows drying a 5 kg wash load.
