Spiral heaters are said to prevent pipes from freezing in high altitudes, cold climates, or other harsh operating conditions. The heaters are reportedly an economical way to obtain expanded coverage for uniform heat distribution where complete coverage of material is not necessary. The spiral heaters are available in different heating element designs, including single- and multi-layer etched circuits and single- and multi-layer wire wound circuits. Single-, multiple-, and variable-watt densities can be designed into a single spiral heater to suit specific application needs. A variety of dielectric substrate materials are available, including silicone, polyimide, neoprene, and polyester.
