The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1985, representing workers in the area around North Canton, Ohio, U.S., will move forward in its investigation into the feasibility of purchasing floor care OEM Hoover Company from Maytag Corporation. The local represents about 800 workers from Hoover's plant in North Canton, and the Akron Beacon Journal reports that more than 500 members approved moving ahead with the investigation.

The union's next step is to look through financial records from Hoover. Those records are being prepared by Lazard Bank of New York, which the Journal says was designated by Maytag to handle the sale. Analyzing Hoover financial records is expected to take about a month.
