Commercial kitchen ventilation OEM Melink just completed construction on its 30,000-square-foot headquarters building in Milford, Ohio, and says it is one of the most environmentally friendly buildings in U.S.

Melink Corporation said preliminary data indicates the building will earn a "Gold" certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. If so, it will be the only Gold-ranked building in the state of Ohio.

Melink's new building was designed to accommodate the company's growth and consolidate three locations to improve operational efficiency.

Another goal for the new headquarters was added after President Steve Melink attended a green building conference in July, 2004. "I was inspired by the passion and commitment of architects, engineers, manufacturers, and consultants to create a sustainable building industry," Melink said. "Conventional thinking with a focus on first-cost and quarterly-performance is destroying our planet."

The new Melink headquarters features:

  • a geothermal heating and cooling system
  • high-performance roof, walls, and windows
  • natural lighting and ventilation
  • a solar energy system
