Union representatives will meet directors at Europe-based appliance maker Indesit over the company's plans to shed up to 170 jobs.

GMB union organizer John Torpey confirmed further talks would be held in a bid to minimize redundancies during the 90-day statutory consultation.

Indesit, which employs around 1,000 people at its plant in Grindley Lane, Blythe Bridge, wants to eliminate the jobs due to a recent decline in demand for cookers in the United Kingdom. (The Sentinel)
