Research and Markets released a business profile of retailer Wal-Mart. The research firms says Wal-Mart Stores is the world's largest retailer as measured by total revenues, operating stores in various formats around the world. Wal-Mart says its strategy is to offer "a broad assortment of quality merchandise and services at everyday low prices (EDLP)."
During the fiscal year ended January 31, 2005, Wal-Mart had net sales of U.S. $285.2 billion. As of October 31, 2005, the company's had, in the U.S.:
1,233 Wal-Mart stores
1,914 Supercenters
556 Sam's Clubs
96 Neighborhood Markets
Wal-Mart operated units around the world include:

As of January 31, 2005, Wal-Mart had approximately 1.7 million employees worldwide, with approximately 1.3 million employees in the United States and approximately 410,000 in foreign countries.
