Arçelik plans to move into the U.S. major appliance market, according to a Zaman.com report quoting General Manager Aka Gunduz Ozdemir. Ozdemir is quoted as saying the company has already conducted market research in North America and has plans to get started in the market with dishwashers.

The comments came as the Turkish appliance company discussed its 9-month results on Friday, as APPLIANCE Magazine reported – see Arçelik Shows Strong YTD Results.

Arçelik identified an aging population and other factors contributing to a shrinking European market, and Ozdemir said he sees no political urgency for reforms he feels are needed to spur European growth, according to the Zaman.com report. This has helped convince the company to focus more efforts on China and the U.S.
