A member of the management board of Slovenia-based home appliance maker Gorenje, Ziga Debeljak, has accepted an offer to become chairman of Slovenia's leading grocer, Mercator.
The Gorenje CFO informed Mercator's supervisory board that he agreed with its offer to take over from Zoran Jankovic and said he asked to have his contract at Gorenje terminated as of Dec. 31, 2005 t take over as Mercator CEO on Jan. 1, 2006.
"Taking over at the helm of Mercator is a big challenge for me that I intend to take head-on and with full responsibility," he said, adding that he believes he can help Mercator grow further.
Debeljak had been mentioned as the most likely candidate to replace Jankovic. (Slovenia Business Week)
