Gorenje CEO Franjo Bobinac told a business daily, Finance, that the company may look for takeover opportunities in 2006.
The Slovenia-based appliance maker already has aggressive expansion plans. As APPLIANCE Magazine reported earlier this month, Gorenje plans new dealerships in Dubai and Lithuania in early 2006 and a new manufacturing facility in Valjevo, Serbia-Montenegro in the fall of 2006. Bobinac also indicated the company plans to expand to Russia in 2007 with a factory to be built in cooperation with an unnamed foreign partner. Gorenje already opened offices in Latvia and Estonia and recently acquired the Czech company Mora Moravia.
Bobinac said future plans include Latin America. The company already has an office in China, but said further expansion or joint ventures in China were a possibility. (Slovene Press Agency STA)
