Panasonic announced that it is selling its two remaining direct sale stores for digital imaging and office products in Dallas, Texas, U.S. and Atlanta, Georgia, U.S. The sale is part of Panasonic's overall strategy to expand its dealer channel for Panasonic copiers, multifunction products (MFP), fax devices, printers, scanners, and electronic whiteboards.

Steve Mullin, president of Panasonic Digital Document Company, said the sale of the company's branch stores -- Panasonic owned and operated 13 office product stores at one time -- will accomplish several objectives.

"Panasonic's distribution channel for office products is driven by independent dealers that have a wealth of industry experience," Mullin said. "Over the years we've learned that they're the experts at operating office product stores." According to Mullin, the sale will also eliminate the reservations some dealers have expressed in the past about the presence of Panasonic-owned branch stores in their markets.

Since April, Panasonic has expanded its distribution channel by signing a number of new dealers. According to Mullin, Panasonic is committed to strengthening as well as expanding its dealer channel. Mullin said that Panasonic will continue to work with its dealers to provide them with competitive products and programs.
