Samsung Electronics Co., the world's third-largest mobile phone manufacturer, said it will establish a mobile handset production unit in India, likely in an industrial complex near New Delhi.

Samsung Telecommunications India Co., wholly owned by the Korean company, will be capitalized at 10.3 billion won (approx. U.S. $9.87 million).

The decision to set up the unit is aimed at tapping into the high growth potential in the Indian mobile phone market, the company said. (JoongAng Daily)
