Appliance maker Gorenje announced it opened the Gorenje Exhibition and Sales Centre in Velenje, Slovenia. The center is located next to the company's central factory complex.
The showroom was opened for a 5-day event called the Gorenje Trade Show 2005, which was expected to draw more than 1,600 visitors from 25 countries.
Prior to the opening, a public roundtable regarding the interaction of design with Slovenian economy was held and participants included Franci Zavrl from the Pristop agency; Maja Križišnik from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, Information and Documentation Centre for Design; Franjo Bobinac, CEO of Gorenje; Jure Miklavc, Slovenian Designer of the Year 2004; Jani Bavcer, president of Slovene Designers Society; Stane Bernik, dean of Academy of Fine Arts, and Joze P. Damijan, economist.
In addition, Gorenje introduced its Technological Centre of the Kitchen. The prototype combined a dining table with a fully integrated refrigerator and built-in oven. The company also introduced a refrigerator and freezer decorated with 5,000 Swarovski crystals. The appliances will be sold at a charity auction in Slovenia in November. The funds raised at the auction will be donated to UNICEF’s project of school-building in Burkina Faso.
