Turkey's Production Down & Exports Up

The Association of Turkish Durables Producers reports that Turkey's durables production fell 0.91 percent in the first seven months of 2005 while durables exports rose 5.3 percent. Data released via the Turkish Daily News shows a fall in the production durables during the January-through-July period, from 2004's 6.7 million units to 6.65 million units in 2005. Exports were 4.128 million in 2004 and 4.347 million units in 2005.

Exports included:

  • Refrigerators - 2.233 million units
  • Washing Machines - 1.344 million units
  • Dishwashers - 186,160 units

    Association member companies include white goods appliance OEMs Arcelik, BSH, Teba and Indesit Company BES, as well as HVAC producer Turk Demirdokum and consumer electronics producer Vestel Beyaz Esya.
