LG Electronics hosted a forum in Dubai to discuss the energy consumption of commercial air-conditioners in the Middle East and Africa. A report from Middle East news outlet Al Bawaba says the theme of the forum was energy efficiency, and speakers called for more stringent efficiency standards in the region. The report says annual average air-conditioning power consumption within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states is nine percent, or three times that of the global average.
GCC states include Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
