Following Sony's decision to sell its goods via Suning Appliance Chains, a leading chain store operator in China, Canon has moved to set up a strategic relationship with Five Star Appliance, another local chain store operator.

An official at Five Star Appliance said that digital products have developed rapidly and their sales channels are moving from separate independent retail shops to specialized home electrical appliance sellers. Besides big cities, these products have already penetrated into small and mid-size cities. '

Canon is regarded as the first brand in Japan with the largest market share, but its development in China has been restrained by limited sales channels.

Five Star Appliance, a nationwide chain store operator, has 54 shopping centers in Jiangsu and will open more in the near future. (XIC)
