South Korean air-conditioner manufacturers saw their sales jump this summer, helped by high temperatures.
Firms such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, and Daewoo Electronics are now delaying the summer vacations of their workers on air-conditioner production lines to meet higher demand.
Thermometers have topped 35 degrees C in many parts of South Korea, and the hot and humid weather is prompting people to buy air-conditioners, analysts said.
So far this year, Samsung Electronics has recorded a 130-percent annual gain in its domestic air-conditioner sales. LG Electronics, said to be world's biggest maker of air-conditioners, has seen sales soar 100 percent from a year earlier.
Close rival Daewoo Electronics posted a 70-percent rise from the previous month in its air-conditioner shipments in July. (Yonhap)
