Siemens Medical Receives Frost & Sullivan Award

Frost & Sullivan has awarded Siemens Medical Solutions the "2005 Enabling Technology of the Year" award in recognition of being the first company to successfully introduce a 64-slice computed tomography (CT) system. Siemens Somatom(R) Sensation 64 is reportedly the world's fastest CT with a gantry rotation time of 0.33 sec and provides unprecedented image quality, with the largest installation base worldwide of 330 systems to date.

The Somatom Sensation 64 is known for capabilities such as Siemens z-Sharp(TM) Technology, which doubles the scanner's data acquisition capacity, the system provides unprecedented image quality and can acquire images of the smallest intracranial, pulmonary, mesenteric, and peripheral vessels in less than 10 sec. The shorter scanning times improve the physicians' ability to diagnose and treat disease states earlier and more accurately, while significantly increasing patient comfort.
