Canadian Chiller Bookings Up in Q1

According to the Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI), chiller bookings showed the largest gain during the first quarter of 2005, increasing by 34 percent.

Commercial air-conditioning showed the second largest gain, increasing 5 percent to 8,012 units in the first quarter of 2005 compared to 7,603 units in the first quarter of 2004.

Residential air-conditioning shipments decreased 1 percent from 45,133 units in the first quarter of 2004 to 44,674 units in the first quarter of 2005.

Residential furnace shipments decreased 9 percent from 60,855 units in the first quarter of 2004 to 55,478 units in the first quarter of 2005.

Unit heater shipments decreased 2 percent from 7,668 in the first quarter of 2004 to 7,486 units in the first quarter of 2005.

Chiller bookings increased 34 percent from 191 units in the first quarter of 2004 to 255 units in the first quarter of 2005.
