The European Union (EU) may impose "anti-dumping" duties on refrigerators from Korea to protect producers such as AB Electrolux and Whirlpool Corp. from cheaper imports.
The EU opened an inquiry into whether Korean exporters of combined refrigerator-freezer units are selling at unfairly low prices in the 25-nation bloc. The products in question are fitted with at least two external doors and has a capacity of more than 400 L.
The probe will determine whether these so-called side-by-side refrigerators are "being dumped and whether this dumping has caused injury," the European Commission, the Brussels-based EU executive arm, said in the Official Journal. (JoongAng Daily)
