Foodservice equipment maker Everpure (Hanover Park, IL, U.S.) said it is aiming its commercial water filtration products at the high-end consumer market.

The company is specifically focusing specifically on "Urbanolas" or affluent urban consumers that are both health- and environment-conscious. Everpure will launch the effort at 2005 Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (K/BIS) in Las Vegas, NV, U.S. on May 10-12.

"We know that a large number of upscale consumers prefer the quality of commercial-grade appliances in their homes," said Mike Madsen, Everpure's vice president of Sales and Marketing. "These food-savvy and health-conscious consumers also value clean water for drinking and cooking. Everpure's water filtration systems, which lead the market in the foodservice industry, are a natural for these buyers."

The company claims that its precoat filtration technology reduces off-tastes and odors and removes particles as small as a half-micron in size (1/50,000 in), including cysts and asbestos fibers. Certain filter models are said to provide added protection against lead and organic chemicals such as VOCs, THMs, and MTBEs.

The Everpure products available for home and recreational applications include plumbed-in, undercounter filtration systems, Reverse Osmosis systems, and special problem-solving models.

The company said it is seeking to add to its network of qualified dealers to handle the expected increase in business for household and recreational uses.
