Canadian Chiller Bookings Increase, Unit Heaters Decline

According to the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI), chiller bookings increased 34 percent during the first quarter of 2005. Bookings increased from 191 units in the first quarter of 2004 to 255 units in the first quarter of 2005.

Commercial furnaces showed the second largest gain, increasing 5 percent from 7,603 in the first quarter of 2004 to 8,012 in the first quarter of 2005.

Residential air-conditioning shipments decreased 1 percent from 45,133 units in the first quarter of 2004 to 44,674 units in the first quarter of 2005.

Residential furnace shipments decreased 9 percent from 60,855 units in the first quarter of 2004 to 55,478 units in the first quarter of 2005.

Unit heater shipments decreased by 2 percent from 7,668 units in the first quarter of 2004 to 7,486 units in the first quarter of 2005.
