LG Group, South Korea's second-largest family-controlled business conglomerate, said it plans to hire nearly 13,000 workers this year, citing strong growth expectations at its flagship LG Electronics Inc. and flat-panel joint venture LG.Philips LCD Co.
About 44 percent of the positions, or some 5,800 workers, will be at LG.Philips LCD, considered the world's second-largest manufacturer of liquid crystal displays (LCD), the group said in a statement. LG.Philips LCD is a joint venture between LG Electronics and Royal Philips Electronics NV of the Netherlands. (Yonhap)
