Efforts by Korean conglomerates to boost their brand recognition in the global arena appear to be paying off.
New data compiled by an online U.S. magazine show top memory chip maker Samsung and home appliance giant LG standing among the most influential brands in the Asia-Pacific region in 2004.
According to Brandchannel.com, the latest results reflect the views of some 2,000 advertising and brand managers. Japan's Sony topped the list, with Samsung in second place and LG third, having surpassed Japanese auto maker Toyota, which had secured the third spot in 2003.
Market experts are linking the favorable performance by local firms to initiatives aimed at enhancing quality and price competitiveness. (Arirang TV)
