South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co. said it has retained its leading position in Southeast Asian television markets for a second straight year.
In a statement, Samsung Electronics said it had a combined 16.3-percent share in the TV markets of Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia in 2004, citing figures compiled by market researcher GfK AG.
Samsung Electronics earned U.S. $350 million in TV sales from the five countries last year, up more than 30 percent from a year earlier.
"We aim to keep the number-one spot this year by increasing TV sales to $500 million," said Park Sang-jin, head of Samsung Electronics' Southeast Asian business. (Yonhap)
