Samsung Electronics Co. said it is targeting sales of 10 trillion won (approx. U.S. $9.7 billion) worth of mobile phones, home appliances, and digital media products in the South Korean market in 2005.
To achieve this goal, the company will bolster its marketing efforts, said Lee Hyun-bong, Samsung's president for Home Electronics Products.
The company said it will focus on boosting sales of "core" products, streamlining its sales outlets, and offering services differentiated from other firms.
Samsung's South Korean sales fell to the 9-trillion-won (approx. $8.7-billion) level in the past 2 years after reaching 12 trillion won (approx. $11.6 billion) in 2002. (Asia In Focus)
