Procter & Gamble Co. (P&G) is recalling about 175,000 battery-operated vacuum cleaners because of a possible fire hazard.

The company said it has received 14 complaints, including one fire, in which the rotor locked up on the Sweep Vac by Swiffer, causing it to overheat and smoke. There were no injuries reported, P&G said.

The product has been sold since September in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, spokesman Terry Loftus said.

All sales of Sweep Vac have been discontinued, and consumers were advised to stop using the product. (AP)
