HP Appoints VP of Media Relations

Business appliance maker HP announced that Robert Sherbin has been named vice president of HP Corporate Media Relations.

Mr. Sherbin, was formerly vice president of Corporate Communications at Gateway, and was also a news reporter with the Dow Jones News Service and a manager of its Nordic and Hong Kong bureaus.

"Bob's global experience provides him with a deep understanding of the range of issues affecting regional markets and how messages and activities must be linked to an overall global strategy," said Allison Johnson, senior vice president, Corporate Marketing, HP. "He joins our team with an in-depth understanding of the media and an appreciation for establishing trusted relationships."

Mr. Sherbin has worked with several companies, including HSBC Group, First Pacific, Gateway Asia Pacific, and Merrill Lynch Asia Pacific. In 2003, he returned to Gateway, where he most recently led the Corporate Communications department following the company's acquisition of eMachines.

Mr. Sherbin received his undergraduate degree in English from Kalamazoo College in Michigan and a Master of Science degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
