Hyundai Enters Consumer Electronics Market

Korean automobile maker Hyundai Corporation announced that it has entered the Indian consumer electronics market with a premium range of products across the India's major cities and plans to venture into the home appliances segment by the end of 2004.

The product portfolio launched includes plasma display panels, LCD TVs, wall-mounted split air-conditioners, window air-conditioners, DVD players, and home theatre systems.

"India holds tremendous potential for our company, we plan to gain leadership position in the premium segment through constant product innovation, aggressive marketing, effective distribution network, and after sales service," Kim Jong-Won, senior vice president for Hyundai Corporation, said. (
