Whirlpool Corporation says it is bringing back a refrigerator line to its Evansville, IN, U.S. plant. The company says more than 100,000 22-in bottom-mount refrigerators will be made at the southern Indiana plant, starting in 2006.

For the last several years, the product has been purchased from another manufacturer instead of being made at the Evansville plant.

Paul Coburn, the company's division vice president, says this is the best news he's had in years. While the number of engineers at the plant could be increased, the number of hourly positions at the plant is not expected to rise. (Associated Press)
