Best Buy Names New Senior Vice President

Appliance and consumer electronics retailer Best Buy Co. announced the appointment of Sam Taylor to senior vice president of Online Stores and Marketing. Mr. Taylor reports to John Thompson, senior vice president and general manager of BestBuy.com.

"As Best Buy continues its transformation to put the customer at the center of its business model, the Internet also is evolving to play an increasingly important role in engaging our customers," said Mr. Thompson. "Sam's leadership and expertise will prove to be extraordinary assets for BestBuy.com, our company's largest store. We are extremely pleased that he has joined Best Buy's online team."

Mr. Taylor most recently held the position of vice president of E-commerce for Lands' End. In that role, he managed all aspects of Lands' End's global e-commerce business, including consumer and business-to-business sites in the U.S. and five international sites. Previously, Mr. Taylor served as vice president of international for Lands' End, overseeing wholly-owned subsidiaries in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan.

Prior to Lands' End, Taylor worked 5 years with The Walt Disney Company. Based in France, he served as the European regional director for The Disney Store Online and The Disney Catalog. He previously served as director of business development and strategy for Walt Disney Consumer Products. Before that, he worked 9 years at Bain and Company, a global strategy consulting firm. While at Bain, Mr. Taylor focused on the retail, consumer products, and customer retention practice areas.

Mr. Taylor has a master's degree in Business Administration from the Harvard Graduate School of Business and holds a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Brigham Young University. He serves on the board of directors for shop.org, the online retailing arm of the National Retail Federation.
