Market for color televisions is expected to show 15-percent growth in April to September 2004-05 after the segment saw a fall of 10 percent in volumes in the same period last year, according to a survey.
The Consumer Durable Goods Survey by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry reveals that while fall in sales of black and white televisions will continue, other sectors will show a robust growth. The consumer electronics segment will grow 9 percent in the first 6 months of 2004-05, the same pace it witnessed last year.
In the white goods segment in first two quarters of 2004-05, refrigerators are expected to grow 12 percent as against 5 percent in the same period last year. Growth in air-conditioners will be 25 percent in April to September 2004 as against 12 percent in the same period last year.
Electronic components segment will grow 19 percent in April to September 2004 as against 18 percent in the same period last year. In this segment, tape recorder components will see a negative growth of 0.5 percent this year as against the growth of 15 percent in the same period last year. (rediff.com)
