Sales of electronic products in Indonesia rose by a range of 19.5 percent to 62 percent year-on-year in the first 4 months of this year.
In April, however, sales were almost flat, Handoko Setiono, chairman of the Electronic Marketer Club (EMC), said.
Increase in sales in April was recorded only for air-conditioners, as the weather was especially hot lately in urban areas and the price of AC declined with large imports, Mr. Setiono said.
Based on data at the EMC, sales of color TV sets totaled 926,812 units in the first 4 months of this year, up 38 percent year-on-year, and sales of refrigerators increased 19.5 percent to 340,780 units.
EMC said producers planned to raise the price of electronic goods by 5 percent next month because of the recent falling value of the rupiah. (ANTARA)
