Philips Malaysia announced it expects double-digit growth for its Domestic Appliances and Personal Care (DAP) products in 2004, with the introduction of new beauty and personal care products.
Andrew Eng Soo Wing, general manager Domestic Appliances & Personal Care of Philips Malaysia Sdn Bhd, explained that the goals would be achieved by broadening both reach and penetration into urban centers and rural areas, in addition to maintaining market leadership for all its core category products such as steam irons and electric shavers.
During the second half of 2003, Philipsâ€™ DAP products were able to increase 10 percent, proportionate to the market growth of the small domestic appliances market in Malaysia for the period.
"Last year, we rolled out our high-end kitchen appliance range, Essence, into the Malaysian market. The Essence range boasted the latest features for kitchen appliances technology using the SMART system, which made cooking easier and much more enjoyable," Mr. Eng said. "This year, we hope to introduce to our Malaysian customers more than 10 new products that are both user-friendly and affordable. What is more, to differentiate us from the rest of the competition, Philips has taken the initiative to offer an international warranty of 2 years." (Sarawak Tribune)
