Appliance retailer The Home Depot announced it became an official sponsor of the Mexican National Soccer Team and its 2004 tour in the U.S. The Home Depot sponsorship, in its second-year, makes it the "Official Home Improvement Retailer" of the Mexican National Team and its 2004 U.S. tour.

The sponsorship includes intellectual property rights to develop national and local market advertising, marketing, and promotional campaigns in the U.S., as well as having a presence on game day via field boards, scoreboards, and game programs.

"We are proud to be a sponsor of the Mexican National Team," said Hugh Miskel, director of event marketing and community relations for The Home Depot. "As part of our growing business in Mexico, and our multi-cultural marketing efforts, we are also pleased to broaden our reach to our Hispanic customer base."

The tour kicked-off in Carson, CA, U.S. on Feb. 18, 2004. The team will face its biggest regional rival, the U.S. team, in Dallas, TX, U.S. on April 28, 2004 at the Cotton Bowl. All tour matches will be televised to a national U.S. audience on Telemundo, while Futbol de Primera, carried by 70 Spanish-language radio stations across the U.S., will provide live radio coverage of all matches.
